Wedding at Borthwick Castle

Weddings in the Castle

Your wedding day should be perfect and you can be assured that the intimate and romantic setting, along with the outstanding service and hospitality of Borthwick Castle will make it so.

The Castle is licensed for both civil and religious ceremonies. We welcome wedding parties from 2 to 75 and the Castle can be hired for Exclusive Use for your special day.

The Ceremony
The Garrison Chapel can accommodate up to 75 guests, or for smaller wedding parties of up to 10 people the State Room may be used.

Borthwick Parish Church lies just by the entrance to the Castle's driveway. Your wedding service can take place here using the services of the local minister or a minister of your choice. After the church service, many couples choose to have a piper accompany them through the avenue of trees to the Castle.

The Banquet and Reception
The newly-weds will then enter the Great Hall and greet their guests while a piper or perhaps a string quartet play from the Minstrels' Gallery. The Wedding Banquet will take place in this magnificent setting where up to 73 guests can dine with the happy couple. Choose your wedding banquet menu from the extensive selection available and our gourmet chef will prepare your meal with the emphasis on using the best fresh local produce available.

A fine choice of wines and champagnes is available to accompany your food. Champagne Receptions and Coffee may be taken in the State Room. While you are enjoying coffee in the State Room the Great Hall can be set up for an evening reception, dancing, ceilidh or entertainment.
